What is the difference between SS 316 and SS 316L?

Let us take this answer in funny and interesting way.

As mentioned by name itself, one 1 difference is there between both type of metals.

SS316 & SS316L

SS316 has more carbon content than SS316L.

Here, L is considered as low.

The only difference is carbon content.

SS316 has 0.08% carbon content and SS316L has 0.03% carbon content.

(well, trick to remember: SS316: 6+3-1: 8: 0.08%

SS316L (less): 3%: 0.03%)

Weird way of remembering. But You won’t forget ever.
